Matt Rodda, MP for Reading East, has commented on the closure of the car park at Hanover House in Reading, a story which has appeared in the Reading Chronicle online today (16/11). He said:

I welcome the precautionary measures taken by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service in closing the car park at Hanover House. This is a five-storey residential building in my constituency which appears to have had Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding used in its recent redevelopment -; the same type found at Grenfell Tower. Whilst I cannot comment on the design of the sprinkler system in place at Hanover House, I share the concerns over the building’s fire safety and hope that lessons can be learned following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. Keeping residents safe is and should always be of paramount importance. I thank the RBFRS for their actions and look forward to being kept informed of any further developments.”
