READING EAST MP Matt Rodda was amongst parishioners at St. Agnes Church in Whitley recently to help deliver the message of Christmas during a traditional candlelit carol service.

Vicar of St. Agnes Church, The Reverend Vernon Orr said:

“We were delighted that Matt agreed to come and do a Bible Reading at our annual Carols by Candlelight at St Agnes right in the heart of Whitley. The place was packed and Matt stayed on afterwards for the refreshments and spoke to lots of people.”

He added:
“The Christian faith is a powerful motivator for social change and it is good to see MPs engaging with local churches.”

Matt said:
“It was a beautiful service with lessons interspersed with carols and it was a privilege to be asked to read one of the lessons.”

Lessons during the service were also read by Councillor Rachel Eden, Reading & District Labour Party Chair Maureen McSevney, and MP for Reading West, Alok Sharma.
