As the year draws to a close, I would like to send my very best wishes over Christmas and into the New Year.

2025 has been a busy and demanding year for Reading, as well as nationally. Over the past twelve months, I have been grateful for the many messages, ideas and experiences that residents have shared with me through my casework, meetings and correspondence. Hearing directly from constituents plays an important role in shaping my work and helps ensure that local concerns are raised and addressed.

Christmas is a time to pause and reflect, and for many it is an opportunity to spend time with family, friends and loved ones. It is also important to recognise that the festive period can be challenging for some, and that many people will be working throughout Christmas and New Year to keep essential services running. I would like to thank everyone in Reading who will be working over the holidays, particularly those in the NHS, emergency services, local government and other vital roles, for all that they do for our community.

Looking ahead to the New Year, I remain focused on representing Reading in Parliament, supporting local residents, and working constructively with partners across the town to help deliver practical improvements that make a positive difference to people’s everyday lives. I will continue to keep residents informed of my work through this weekly update, and I encourage you to get in touch if there are issues you would like to raise or ideas you would like to share.

Thank you again for reading my updates over the past year. I wish you a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas, a chance to rest where possible, and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.

With best wishes,
Matt Rodda MP
