I was pleased to visit The Abbey School this morning to attend their Jane Austen coffee morning as part of her 250th year anniversary.

The school took its name in honour of Jane Austen, to keep the memory alive of the old house in Abbey Gateway where she was a pupil.

It was also interesting to learn about the school’s more recent connection to Jane Austen, as their librarian, Joanne Wenman, uncovered this year that she is a descendant of Jane Austen’s ancestor. You can learn more about this story here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c709nz63kjpo
