I am extremely concerned about the management of health and safety at the Station Hill development. This is following the serious fire yesterday – the second fire in five months.

During yesterday’s fire, workers at the site were injured and some had a very lucky escape, with one worker being hoisted away from the top of a tower block seconds before he was engulfed by the fire.

I know that at least two workers were taken to hospital – I hope the people affected by yesterday’s fire are being looked after and are recovering from this dangerous ordeal.

I have written to the Health and Safety Executive asking them to make it a priority to investigate these incidents and management at the site. I am concerned that there may be a widespread failure of health and safety at the development. You can read the full letter below.
