The Grumpy Goat will open for the last time tomorrow in Union Street. I am extremely disappointed that they are being evicted by their landlord with only seven days notice.

The Grumpy Goat has played a vital role in Reading’s community of independent and small businesses, and was a huge addition to Union Street after moving from the Harris Arcade.

I have written to Kevin Hollinrake, the Minister for Enterprise, Markets and Small Business, to raise the Goat’s case and to ask the government to look into the regulation surrounding the rental of commercial properties and the protections that are in place for small businesses.

Please do support them on their last day of trading in Union Street. You can contact me at. You can contact me at mattroddampcasework@parliament.uk if you have concerns about the way the Grumpy Goat, and other independent businesses, are treated by their landlords.
