Last week, the Government announced some support for those affected by unsafe cladding. The improved support is welcome but it still falls short of the help that leaseholders need.

In Reading, in the town centre, we still have blocks which have cladding problems. There needs to be a speedy solution to give peace of mind to those living in unsafe properties.

The Minister should also think again about the split between high-rise and low-rise blocks. It cannot be right for individuals to be left with debts or worse-off as a result of a problem that they did not create.

I’ll continue supporting the residents affected in Reading and arguing for a full package of support to make all homes safe.
