In Reading and Woodley, a very large number of people are self-employed and have microbusinesses or work as consultants in one form or another. That is spread across a huge range of sectors, from traditional small businesses through to people with trades or IT skills and public servants.

Many of those people will be affected by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The government doesn’t seem to have the same sense of urgency that’s needed to provide the right level of support for many desperate self-employed workers. The self-employed deserve the same support and urgency as all other workers in our economy.
