Matt Rodda Labour MP for Reading Central
In Reading in 2018, we had 25 people sleeping rough, that’s 5 times more than in 2011. This figure doesn’t account for people without a secure home who may be temporarily staying with friends or family. This hidden group is likely to be much bigger than the numbers presented in official records.
It doesn’t have to be this way. No one in the UK should face homelessness, and no one should be without help.
We have a number of excellent charities in Reading who are helping people out of homelessness, and helping people who may be facing homelessness, including: Launchpad Reading, Cirdic, St Mungo’s, CommuniCare, Reading Central Salvation Army, Sadaka, New Beginnings Reading, ReadiFood Food Bank, Bed 4 the Night, and Sanctuary Hosting. I am incredibly grateful to them for the support they provide in Reading.
