I am very concerned about today’s announcement that Boris Johnson is going to try to shut down Parliament, it is outrageous and is a threat to our democracy.

The prorogation of Parliament is deeply irresponsible and is a direct challenge to MPs from all parties who are working together to avoid a damaging no deal Brexit.

I believe this irresponsible act is in stark contrast to all those who are putting aside party differences to work in the national interest.

The coming days and weeks will be difficult and challenging, I hope and sincerely believe that we can avoid a deeply damaging no deal, and I will be working with colleagues from across Parliament to stand up for the interests of local people.
