Matt Rodda Member of Parliament for Reading East

Matt Rodda MP visited The Oracle shopping centre to meet staff and managers to listen to how they are responding to the challenges faced by shops from online retail.
The centre is home to over 80 shops as well as restaurants, bars and cafes, and a multiscreen cinema.
Matt Rodda said: “Retail is one of the major employers in the Reading area and I am keen to support local shops and to protect jobs in Reading and Woodley. Having a vibrant town centre is important for our town, for businesses and for our culture and identity.”
“It was interesting to hear how The Oracle is working hard to protect jobs in retail and in other town centre businesses at a time when online shopping is growing. I was also interested to hear about the work The Oracle and retailers are doing to encourage recycling and to support charities.”
