Snowy scenes honouring the First World War soldiers of Reading are on display at local estate agency Haslams this Christmas.

The estate agency commissioned artist Tom Barker to make the snowscape on the huge gallery window at their main store in Friar Street, Reading. The art, created using spray-on snow, depicts scenes such as local hero Trooper Potts, Reading’s famous recipient of the Victoria Cross, and the war-time Christmas Day football match.

Reading East MP Matt Rodda attended the official unveiling of the snowscaped windows at a charity celebration on Thursday 16 November 2017, an event which will kick off a series of events with local homeless support charity Launchpad.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the window display, Matt said:

I think Haslams have a window display which the whole town can be proud of. It is great to hear that local schoolchildren from Katesgrove where Trooper Potts was a pupil have also done some work on the window, learning how to draw trees in the snow. The window is a perfect way to support a local charity such as Launchpad as well as celebrate Christmas. I hope this will also help the town remember all those who served in the First World War.”
