Remembering Jo Cox and continuing her work

Reading East MP, Matt Rodda, was pleased to have been able to attend the donation of a book about Jo Cox to Reading Library, as part of Matt and the Mayor of Reading’s work to help celebrate Jo’s life and to help continue her work.

The book “Jo Cox – More in Common”, by her husband, Brendan Cox, was donated by Cllr Jon Harvey, the Mayor of Buckingham and accepted by Cllr Rose Williams, the Mayor of Reading.

Cllr Harvey is on a journey donating several copies of the book to libraries across the country which he has connections with, to commemorate Jo’s life. Through a Labour forum, Matt responded positively to Jon’s story and suggested he come to Reading. This was ideal as Jon lived and worked in Reading in the late 70s / early 80’s. Matt made the arrangements for him to make a donation to the Central Library. Rose was delighted to accept the book and arrangements were then made for a formal donation ceremony involving the two Mayors.

Both Matt and Rose are keen to support and continue Jo’s work to bring communities together and to support international development, tackling poverty and other problems. Matt, Rose and other local Labour colleagues have also supported other events to commemorate Jo’s work and to continue it locally.
