MATT RODDA MP MEETS THE PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSIONER IN LONDON

THE HIGH COMMISSIONER for Pakistan in the UK, His Excellency Mr Syed Ibne Abbas extended an invitation to the new Labour MP for Reading East Matt Rodda recently. Matt was honoured to meet His Excellency, and was accompanied to this meeting by the UK Co-Ordinator of the UK Pakistani Kashmiri Councillors’ Forum The Hon. Alderman Mushtaq Lasharie CBE, with the Executive Member from Reading Pakistan Community Centre Mr Mian Saleem also attending as a local connection.

During the meeting, both Matt and His Excellency were able to cover many issues ranging from the continued efforts to promote integration and inclusion, through to education, university tuition fees, and business issues arising from Brexit. Housing needs were also discussed in in addition to more localised matters to Reading.

Aside from political matters, Matt took the opportunity to congratulate His Excellency on the emphatic victory by Pakistan’s cricket team over India in the recent ICC Champions Trophy at The Oval, which heralded the tournament returning to Pakistan after a 9-year absence.

Following the meeting at the High Commission, Matt said:

I was delighted to meet the High Commissioner, and look forward to developing a strong working relationship with the High Commission, and to help to continue to work for the interests of Reading’s Pakistani community.”
