REFURBISHMENT AT DINGLEY'S PROMISE KICKS OFF 35TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

A refurbishment of the Dingley's Promise Centre in Reading kicked off the start of the charity's 35th anniversary celebrations recently.

Formed in 1983, Dingley's Promise became a charity in 1988. 2018 heralds the charity's 35th anniversary. Dingley's Promise is based at the Kennet Walk Community Centre in Reading, and provides essential services for children with special educational needs and disabilities. This help is delivered through a variety of services, which includes play sessions and family support, in addition to developing and providing bespoke SEND training to nursery staff employed at other nurseries and organisations around the country.

Matt was given a guided tour of the facilities by Chief Executive Officer Catherine McLeod MBE, who took the helm at the charity three years ago in 2015. As increasing demand on services needs further resources, the organisation is seeking to maximise its footprint at the Community Centre and make the best use of the space available. A new Family Room is also planned for for the very near future to enable parents to have a private space in which to chat about their needs

Matt said:
“Services such as those provided by Dingley's Promise are a vital stepping stone into education for children who have special or additional educational needs and disabilities. Through their range of services, they help to equip young children under 5 prepare for education, as well as providing additional support for their families. I hope to work closely with Dingley's Promise and the variety of organisations and charities which plug into their services, to help promote the joined-up approach to support which our children and families need.”
