Our much loved local NHS services, including the Royal Berkshire Hospital, are currently under intense pressure with a rise in demand for their services and staff struggling following the Government’s top down reorganisation. A&E departments and GP surgeries are particularly struggling to cope this winter.
I’m leading calls for more to be done to support our local NHS. Please show your support for the NHS by adding your name below and I'll keep you in touch with the latest news and campaign information from your area.
Reading residents have repeatedly told me they are concerned about what's happening with the NHS, and their fears have not been eased after a health watchdog announced an investigation into waiting times at the RBH, and a doctors surgery in Southcote was threatened with closure.
I'm working with your local Labour team to campaign for more resources for the RBH and local surgeries which have been hit hard by the Conservative and Lib Dems failing to invest in the NHS and privatising services.
If elected in May a Labour government will invest in 20,000 more nurses and 8,000 extra family doctors, which will make a real difference to hard pressed services in towns like Reading.
We need to invest in our NHS, you can’t trust the Tories and Lib Dems to protect it. The Government is failing to listen to warnings from patients and staff.
