Speaking in a debate on road restructuring in Oxfordshire, Matt Rodda raised the need for a third Thames bridge joining Reading and South Oxfordshire.

The Reading East MP informed the Minister of the major delays which have a significant impact on both residents and businesses in the area, and of the plight of commuters from south Oxfordshire who struggle to get into work in Reading or the neighbouring towns of Woodley and Maidenhead.

On the issue of the third bridge, Matt said, “I would like to stress that a credible plan has been put forward by Reading and Wokingham councils. A route has been identified. Research has been carried out that shows that this would reduce many of the local pressures in the area, including in Henley and Reading town centres. There is support from a number of local councils, there is cross-party support and there is support from businesses, and we would now like to raise the matter with the Minister.”
