LABOUR:PROTECTING THE NHS, TACKLING THE COST-OF-LIVING CRISIS - LABOUR WILL:

Tackle the cost-of-living crisis

• Cut taxes for 24 million people by introducing a

10p starting rate of tax

• Increase the minimum wage to £8 an hour and

ban exploitative zero-hour contracts

• Freeze energy bills until 2017 and fix the broken

energy market

• Place a cap on annual rail fare increases

Protect the NHS

• Recruit 8,000 more doctors and 20,000 more

nurses, paid for by a tax on properties worth

£2million or more

• Guarantee an appointment to see a GP within 48

hours, or on the same day if you need it

• Ensure patients wait no longer than a week for

vital cancer tests

• End the scandal of 15-minute home visits in social

care, caused by Tory and Lib Dem cuts of

£2.8billion

• Integrate health with social care so those in need

are looked after whatever their circumstances

Create opportunities for all

• Protect funding for schools and further education

and end the flawed and wasteful Free School

programme

• Raise standards in state schools by enforcing

class-size limits and ensuring teachers are fully

qualified

• Guarantee a job to everyone aged 18 to 24

unemployed for more than a year

Give students a fair deal

• Cut tuition fees for students to £6,000, paid for by

ending tax relief on pensions for those earning

over 150,000 a year

• Transform vocational education and training, with

more and better quality apprenticeships

Help families with childcare

• Provide 25 hours free childcare to working parents

of all 3- and 4-year-olds, paid for by an increase in

the bank levy

• Every primary school will provide childcare before

and after school

Clamp down on tax avoidance

• Under the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats,

millionaires and multinational companies have

been dodging millions of pounds in tax, which has

increased the tax burden on everyone else

Build more affordable homes

• Build 200,000 houses a year by 2020

• Guarantee more secure and longer-term tenancies

for private renters

• End rip-off fees by letting agents

Support small business

• Cut business rates in 2015 and freeze them in

2016 for over 1.5 million businesses

• Create a British Investment Bank, to boost lending

to small business

Scrap the Bedroom Tax

• Abolish the cruel, costly and failing Bedroom Tax,

which unfairly discriminates against the disabled

Protect the environment

• Unlike the Tories and Lib Dems, who cut spending

on flood defences along the River Thames in

2010, we will make flood prevention a priority

• End the badger cull

• Keep the ban on hunting with dogs

• Decarbonise our electricity supply by 2030
