Labour’s £7.5bn target for cutting tax avoidance and evasion

Under the last Labour government the tax gap was falling by £1.5bn a year on average between 2005-06 and 2009-10. But under the Tories it has been increasing by an average of £1bn a year.

The next Labour government will set a target to not only get back to avoidance and evasion falling at £1.5bn a year, but reverse the increases under the Tories as well.

Ed Miliband has set out his vision for British foreign policy.

In the last five years, David Cameron has presided over the greatest loss of British influence in a generation with a foreign policy characterised by inward-looking, small-minded isolationism which too often has put short-term party political interests ahead of the national interest.

Ed Miliband announced Labour’s plan to put first-time buyers first by reducing stamp duty to zero and giving them priority access on new homes built.

The Tories have overseen the lowest peacetime level of housebuilding since the 1920s, the lowest rate of home ownership for 30 years and a market where buy-to-let landlords as well as foreign investors are snapping up properties before local people get a chance.

No wonder people can’t get the start they need. Working families deserve better. That’s why Labour will act. We’ll put first-time buyers first because we believe Britain can only succeed when working people succeed.

Labour’s commitment to the NHS is part of who we are. Let’s save our NHS, let’s elect a Labour government.

All of us have our personal reasons to be thankful for our NHS — whether NHS doctors saved the life of a loved one, or an NHS nurse took care of our elderly parents and grandparents, or an NHS midwife welcomed our children into the world.

It is one of our country’s very proudest achievements and the envy of the world. But today it is facing one of the greatest threats since its foundation.

Britain only succeeds when working people succeed but, under the Tories, too many working people don’t feel secure in the homes they rent.

People deserve to know the kind of rents they’ll be paying when they start a new tenancy and not to be taken for a ride by landlords who offer huge rent hikes. And they deserve to know they can stay in their home, not be kicked out at a moment's notice.

We’ve got a plan to give “Generation Rent” a better and more secure future - and we’ll get started on it as soon as we’re in government.
