Parking and Planning

It was interesting to talk to residents at our Katesgrove councillors' ward surgery on Saturday, with issues raised about parking and stopping unwanted development.

We have carried out a number of projects to try to improve parking, working with local residents and the council, including making improvements to Milman Road, Swainstone Road, Hill Street and for residents in the area around Katesgrove Primary School.

However, it is difficult to manage the number of vehicles in historic Victorian Streets which were not built for vehicles.

The area also faces on-going challenges from some developers.

We spoke to people about the planning appeal for the Woodley Arms site on Waldeck Street, which a developer is trying to turn into flats.

Two applications have been turned down by the council, the first was also turned down at appeal and we hope that the second will also be stopped at this stage in the planning process. We are currently working with residents to submit comments to the appeal
